"Moving in the Spirit, A Day of Health and Hope" is a retreat day for people living with Parkinson's Disease, Dystonia, Essential Tremor, Multiple Sclerosis and other Movement Disorders, their loved ones and caregivers. It will be held Sat., April 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Glastonbury Abbey Retreat Center, 16 Hull St., Hingham, Mass.

This unique one day retreat will include interfaith worship, large and small group exercises, gentle chair massage, therapeutic movement to music, guided meditation, specialized stretching exercises and more! Lunch as well as coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. The retreat will also feature a Resource Room stocked with educational materials.

Spirited Movement retreats are designed to benefit the body as well as the spirit.  In a warm, supportive, structured environment, we will have the opportunity to share our experiences of living with a Movement Disorder or caring for someone who does. Lunch is included.

Early Bird Registration (before March 15) is just $50! 

After March 15, Registration will be $60.

-- Unique worship, spiritual exercises and large and small group discussions facilitated by          Lindsay McGrath, M.Div.  Lindsay has a Master of Divinity degree from Boston University         School of Theology.  Lindsay lives with Cervical Dystonia.

-- Therapeutic Movement to Music with Rachel Balaban, Connecticut/Rhode Island Coordinator, Dance for Parkinson’s Disease.  Rachel received training at the Mark Morris Dance Company in New York City.

-- A session on Gentle Stretching Exercises with Maria O’Laughlin, P.T., founder of Doting Daughters Physical Therapy based in Hingham, Mass.  Maria is inspired in her work by her Father’s journey with PD.

-- Relaxing Chair Massage with Jennifer Jensen, CMT,& her team from Healing Touch Therapies, Scituate, Mass. 

-- Lunch is included!

Traveling to Glastonbury Abbey

Travel to the retreat by train!  Take the Greenbush Line from Boston's South Station to the Cohasset Station.  We will pick you up and bring you to the Retreat Center -- a two minute drive!  For a current schedule, visit www.mbta.com.

By Car

From Boston and North Shore
Take I-93S to RT. 3S/Cape Cod
From Rt. 3, take Exit 14/Rt. 228 Rockland/Nantasket. 
Take a left at the lights off the exit ramp and follow Rt. 228 North through the town of Hingham.
 When you reach the intersection of Rt. 228 and 3A, continue to follow Rt. 228 straight through the lights and then bear left on 228 at Hull St. You will see the sign for GLASTONBURY ABBEY on your left, about 50 feet past the split. Turn left into the second driveway, proceed to the parking lot.

From West of Boston

Take 128S to RT. 3S/Cape Cod. 
From Rt. 3, take Exit 14/Rt. 228 Rockland/Nantasket. 
Take a left at the lights off the exit ramp and follow Rt. 228 North through the town of Hingham. When you reach the intersection of Rt. 228 and 3A, continue to follow Rt. 228 straight through the lights and then bear left on 228 at Hull St. You will see the sign for GLASTONBURY ABBEY on your left, about 50 feet past the split. The driveway to the Main Building and Chapel is another 20 feet farther down on the left.

From Cape Cod

Take RT. 3N to Exit 14/Rt. 228 Rockland Nantasket. 
Take a right at the lights off the exit ramp and follow Rt. 228 North through the town of Hingham.
 When you reach the intersection of Rt. 228 and 3A, continue to follow Rt. 228 straight through the lights and then bear left on 228 at Hull St. You will see the sign for GLASTONBURY ABBEY on your left, about 50 feet past the split. The driveway to the Main Building and Chapel is another 20 feet farther down on the left.
