Spirited Movement

Retreats for People Living with Chronic Illness and their Caregivers

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Lindsay McGrath and I am director of the Spirited Movement Foundation. My work is all about providing spiritual support to people who live with movement disorders. I live with Cervical Dystonia.

Over the past year, I have focused on creating exciting, welcoming interfaith retreats that incorporate spirituality, yoga, massage and therapeutic dance. It's great to meet all the people who travel to our retreats -- but I am aware that there are so many folks who aren't able to come to Boston but want what Spirited Movement has to share!

So, it is time to launch this blog!

In this blog, I will strive to offer you inspiring spiritual writing that will help you gain greater insight into your unique journey as a person living with a movement disorder. This may make my blog different from many of the other M.D.. blogs you have encountered. I won't write as much about medicine as meaning. I'll definitely focus more on purpose than pills. My posts may be about life's "small" joys and sorrows or may bump up against some of existence's "big questions." But whatever I write about, it will be with humor and compassion.

I have a bit of experience in this work. I have a Master of Divinity of Degree from Boston University School of Theology (Go Terriers!) and worked as a hospital chaplain for many years before starting the Foundation. My training coupled with my Cervical Dystonia has provided me with some lessons in how to find God in unexpected places -- like illness. That is a gift I know all of us share and I am looking forward to hearing your stories as much as I hope you are looking forward to hearing mine.

So welcome again! I look forward to sharing thoughts, ideas, prayers, meditations, affirmations, interviews, book recommendations and more with you! And I look forward to hearing from you. The Spirited Movement Foundation Membership Forum will be up and running soon. This free membership forum will give you the chance to network with others who live with movement disorders. Those who do not live with movement disorders but care about others who do are also encouraged to join.

May the Spirit be with us as we begin our journey together.

Blessings,

Lindsay
